Polmont Golf Club, Scotland - Wind Project 500 kW
The Polmont Golf Club is a nine-hole golf course, not far from Edinburgh, halfway between Falkirk and Linlithgow. A very popular playground with the people of Maddiston and the whole county of Falkirk.
In 2017, owners decided to install ATB Riva Calzoni's ATB 500, a 500 kW wind turbine manifactured by ATB Riva Calzoni to produce renewable energy to be sold to the network and support the activities of the sport association.
The ATB 500.54, fabbricated in Artogne e completed in Roncadelle, is a variable pitch controlled wind turbine with a 54 m rotor and a 50 m hub height. Installation works were completed in three days, were handled by Spectrum Energy Systems Ltd under the supervision of ATB Riva Calzoni engineers.
Turbine owners will enjoy the benefits of the feed in tariff, a political mechanism designed to accelerate investment in renewable energy technologies. The produced energy is sold at a predetermined tariff, more favorable than market prices.
The expected production for the Polmont plant, a site with an average wind power value of 6.5 meters per second, is around 1,600,000 kWh annually.
