Nam Theun 1 Hydropower Project in Laos
ATB Riva Calzoni supplied the penstock and the complete Hydromechanical Equipment for Nam Theun 1 HPP in Laos, 650 MW.
Nam Theun 1 project is hydropower plant located in the Bolikhamxay province, Laos. The project is built on the Nam Kading River, a tributary of Mekong.
The hydropower plant has an installed capacity of 650MW, designed to produce energy for the country domestic consumption, distributed by Edl- Electricité du Laos, and for Thailand exportation on behalf of Egat (Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand).
The supply includes the 10m diameter steel penstock complete of manifolds and bifurcations, for a total length of 585m, six spillway radial gates, bottom outlet gates (maintenance sliding gates, emergency gates, service radial gates and steel lining), power intake gates, river diversion stoplogs, trashracks and trashracks cleaning machines, cranes and other stoplogs.
Considering the large penstock diameter, a temporary workshop has been installed at site in order to carry out the penstock fabrication activities.
ATB Riva Calzoni has already completed and commissioned the supply in May 2022.
