Preparation of foundations for quenching showers 5 and 6 - ILVA Taranto
One phase of the integrated steel mill cycle in which the incandescent coal loaded on wagons at the entrance to the showers is sprayed with water, thus producing vapors that rise to the top of the structure towards filters and shutter systems that reduce emissions. Once the existing building was demolished, the land containment works were carried out so as to install the new systems, which are larger and completely different from the previous ones in the coke-oven complex. The new structures, built entirely of reinforced concrete and about 50 meters high, are equipped with technologies that enable more efficient dust suppression, according to the provisions of the Integrated Environmental Authorization (AIA), and a water purification system.
